Makalu Expedition

Makalu is the fifth-highest mountain in the world at 8,485 meters (27,838 ft). It is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas 19 km (12 mi) southeast of Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and China.

Services

Includes:

Arrival & Departure Airport transfers
Five nights in Kathmandu on a bed-and-breakfast basis
Flight to KTM-Tumlingtar-KTM for members and staff
Three meals daily in the Trekking and Base Camp for members and staff
Expedition permit, national park and TIMS permit, garbage deposit fees

One high-altitude climbing Sherpa (Makalu Summiter) for two members
One base camp cook and kitchen helpers.

Insurance: Travel, accident, medical, and emergency evacuation
Nepal Entry Visa fee
Sherpa Summit Bonus $500 USD
Emergency rescue evacuation cost, if needed

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2-3: Stay in Kathmandu, and make necessary preparations for the expedition.

Day 4: Fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, and trek to Khandbari.

Day 5: Trek to Chichila

Day 6: Trek to Num.

Day 7: Trek to Sedua.

Day 8: Trek to Tashi Gaon.

Day 9: Rest day in Tashi Gaon.

Day 10: Trek to Kauma.

Day 11: Trek to Dobato.

Day 12: Trek to Yangle Kharka.

Day 13: Trek to Langmale Kharka.

Day 14: Trek to Makalu Base Camp.

Day 15: Rest day at Makalu Base Camp – Acclimatization & Arrangements for the High Camp.

Day 16: Makalu (Higher) Base Camp (5,600m).

Day 17-46: Climbing Period for Makalu 1 (8,463m).

Day 47: Makalu BC – Langmale Kharka.

Day 48: Trek to Dobato.

Day 49: Trek to Tashi Gaun.

Day 50: Trek to Num.

Day 51: Drive to Tumlingtar.

Day 52: Flight Kathmandu. Transfer to a hotel.

Day 53: Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 54: Final departure.
